Synthetic Aphrodisiacs

Currently, there is only one Synthetic Aphrodisiac that we know of in development. It is called Bremelanotide (formerly PT-141), and is being developed and tested by Palatin Technologies for the treatment of low sexual desire in both men and women, as well as erectile dysfunction (ED) in men.

Synthetic aphrodisiacs work differently to drugs like Viagra in that they do not work on the vascular system (like increasing blood flow to the penis), but instead directly increase sexual desire in both men and women.

Bremelanotide is a spray introduced nasally.
Bremelanotide is synthesized from Melanotan II.
Bremelanotide is expected to begin phase III clinical trials soon.

We think Bremelanotide is going to be the first in a whole series of synthetic aphrodisiacs, so look for more news about this in the near future.
